There is a med think an antipsycotic that sounds like perperizine that both B2chica and Zyprexa use that I'd like to give the name of and side effects of to an old babbler friend of mine. Anyone know of this one or is it an offlabel med? Thanks Phillipa

Perphenazine is used for nausea as well as for psychosis, mania etc (and for that matter, Compazine can be used for psychosis as well as nausea, they are very closely related, as is Stelazine)
The brand name for perphenazine was Trilafon when it was introduced about 50 years ago, but i think its only generics avaliable these days.

Perphenazine, is a realy strong sedative, used for schitzophrenia, and other disorders, its an antipsychotic. Works on D2 antagonist mainly from what I can find. No weight gain. It is stronger than many of the other APs in its class.

Thanks Zyprexa would you recommend it as a replacement for a person who wishes to discontinue zyprexa due to weight gain? Phillipa

Given the higher risk of tardive dyskensia with the older antipsychotics like perphenazine, I'd suggest they try Geodon first (this is an atypical which has a very low risk of weight gain and metabolic syndrome)
