If you were here, I would kiss you. My first day on Focalin and I think you were SO right. I think I love this drug. You are so right about it being smoother. It doesn't really give me a high like regular Ritalin, but it more quietly makes me feel good, and even calm. And the positve effects last much longer than they did with regualr Ritalin. I still end up getting anxious after I take it, but it comes on much later after I take a dose, and the anxiety is nowhere near as bad as it is with regular Ritalin. My Gabapentin and Klonopin easily handle it, when they never really did with the regular drug. And, as a wonderful bonus, it nowhere near raises my blood pressure and heart rate as much as the plain Ritalin. I already feel healthier on it. With regular Ritalin I was always thinking, 'Oh my poor little heart' and wondering when the stroke would happen. I don't feel at all that way on Focalin. I'll most likely be able to cut back on my antihypertensives which will make me feel healthier too.
Obviously I can't say enough good things about Focalin. It's the first day, and who knows, maybe all this positive stuff will go down the toilet at some point. But thus far I am so impressed.
I truly want to thank you from the bottom of my happier heart rj...what a great recommendation. You go man!!!! I hope you are well, and thanks again. :)

yeaaaaa.....im happy too, focalin is one isomer of methyphenidate....its dexmethyphenidate....kinda like dextroamphetamine to amphetamine....like adderall can cause other side effect like anxiety due to the left isomer levoamphetamine....than damphetamine.
im so glad....dopamine will increase over time...so that may help both low intrest, and feeling like u have no drive...it will get better, its just when it wears off...it may be a little rough, take klonopin and maybe nuerontin too...that may help the mood for the rebound periods.
focalin xr...is a good choice, but if you have a system with regular focalin to take maybe every 4 hours, that sounds good...klonopin is great for stimulant rebound....so any more questions just post!

today I'm feeling a bit more down. Most of it is probably due to an argument I had with my Stepmom, whom I've always been close to.
But I'm gonna give it a week, and if I still feel like my depression is only partially helped I'll call my pdoc.
I'm on 10mg three times a day of regular release Focalin...anyone know what the max dose is? I can look it up too, but i'm feeling too down and unmotivated to do it right now. In other words I'm being lazy :(
oh, and extended release stims always turn out to be a disaster for me..just an hour or so of feeling OK, then 10hrs of anxiety.
Anyways, thanks again rj; you are the best! I still think Focalin is great, and me and my pdoc will tweak it so that it works even better. Take care!
