Abilify + Lithium = Projectile vomiting

Posted by Phil on November 4, 2012, at 4:11:19

When I tried Abilify a few years ago I think I was taking it at night with Lithium. I don't remember taking anything else but anything is possible.
In under 60 seconds I was throwing up like no tomorrow. I don't think I put two and two together.

Second night, same thing. My doctor said to take the drugs an hour apart. No problem.

Anyone have a clue about what was going on there? I never asked my doc.

I read that Lithium can cause vomiting.

I'd been on Lithium for years though. Something in those two drugs didn't get along together.

I read somewhere briefly that overdose of lithium can cause it. Maybe abilify... just made you more sensitive to lithium adverse effects or made the serum levels too high.

I was actually on abilify years ago for a very short time. I had to get off of it because it gave me akathisia.

Phil I'm pretty sure you have researched this. Could you have been allergic to abilify? Just a thought? Never heard anyone mention this before. Phillipa

I had to get off of it too. Rapid cycling. All I know is those pills made me throw up so fast.

I'll have to ask my doctor on this one.
