Drug Experts help me with something Please!

Posted by gilmourr on October 31, 2012, at 23:24:47

So I'm fairly sure that loads of norepinephrine from Nardil is the cause behind my coldness and intolerance to cold/cold hands/cold feet.

Regardless, Nardil makes me feel great at 45 mg mood wise/anxiety. However, I do think it gives me too much NE.

What can I add with Nardil to lower NE? Or possibly to increase SERT to balance out the NE coldness? Abilify would raise SERT and the partial dopamine agonist activity with the Nardil would result in less dopamine than Nardil alone. Dopamine I've read is a precursor to NE, or it is converted to NE so would this help lower NE levels? Possibly a very long half life beta blocker?

I need something to augment Nardil with that will lower the norepinephrine effect. Any suggestions, please. Doctors appointment tomorrow.

How have you surmised this?

>What can I add with Nardil to lower NE?

Nothing.

>Or possibly to increase SERT to balance out the NE coldness?

I don't know why an increase in seratonin would make you less cold.

>Abilify would raise SERT and the partial dopamine agonist activity with the Nardil would result in less dopamine than Nardil alone. Dopamine I've read is a precursor to NE, or it is converted to NE so would this help lower NE levels?

Antagonizing dopamine would not lead to less norepenephrine.

Because I've been on many drugs. The 3 that have made me cold are Parnate, Cymbalta and Nardil (All NE based)

Definitely something can, you're saying if I'm hypertensive they wouldn't be able to do anything about that?

Serotonin makes you hot, norepinephrine makes you cold through vasoconstriction.

Yeah I have no idea about this, but I read it on a topic somewhere on this forum. In low doses a person said they experienced less anxiety etc. It's possible, I'm not sure.

Have you eliminated all possibilities?

>Definitely something can, you're saying if I'm hypertensive they wouldn't be able to do anything about that?

I forgot, Clonidine reduces norepenephrine.

Clonidine treats high blood pressure by stimulating α2 receptors in the brain, which decreases cardiac output and peripheral vascular resistance, lowering blood pressure. It has specificity towards the presynaptic α2 receptors in the vasomotor center in the brainstem. This binding decreases presynaptic calcium levels, and inhibits the release of norepinephrine (NE). The net effect is a decrease in sympathetic tone

Yeah I was asking about clonidine, but my doctor gave me Amlodipine instead which is a calcium channel blocker. He said that should cause vasodilation and get my hands and feet warm.

I'll take it for a week to tide me over until more MAO regenerates (which should be the cause behind the coldness).

this may be a little to late but Propranolol will defitaly get NE levels lowered. Also to inrease SERO Buspar....its usally given for anxiety by stingy doctors but you should look into it because it increases certain receptors of SERO. I just don't know if it can be taken with nardil due to sero syndrome. Also stablon...

Zyprexa....without a doubt will release the anxiety through nueroleptic actions on dopamine and sero...reducing them, but still some people who are not have mood or thought disorders find it hard to function on any antipsychotic, besides abilify which is given out like candy today.

There is no 'Drug Experts' here.
No one can tell you what a drug will do to you when you take it.

Its guess work, they effect all people differntly.

There is no 'Drug Experts' here.

______________

This site has never claimed to have drug experts. People ask questions and others answer. It can only give the person a bit of knowledge to bring up with their doctor. The doctor won't follow babblers orders.

Most people are colder with MAOIs. I sure have been. I believe it is from the hypotension (low blood pressure).
(not a drug expert)

To tell you the truth, I think you will probably get better understanding here than at most doctors.

I just wanted to correct the expectations of the poster that he was talking to any experts.
