I've been giving seom serious thought to dosing up from my currrent 50 mg/day Luvox dose to a higher dose to fight off my agoraphobia relapse.
I was wondering if the pharmagurus on this site could have an answer to the following question:
I like to dose up meds gradually (gives me a sense of control). Is this drug more effective when dosed up in large increments, or can I take my time with, say, quarter pill increases a week at a time to taper up to a higher dosage? (Assume final dosage is the same under both scenarios) ie, should I go straight from 50 to 100, or can I break it up and do it gradually with quarter pill increases?

The original way done with me but years ago was 50mg increments but I'd imagine doing it either way would be fine. Seems that a more conservative approach to meds is being done today. Add 25mg a day. Phillipa

I dont think slowly increasing would reduce the effectiveness of the drug at the end of the processw, it would just take longer to reach an effective dose.
Start low, go slow is usualy a good motto where psychotropic drugs are concerned.
If things are especialy bad, it might be wise to aim for 200mg. You could also ad a high potency benzo (Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan)for a 2-3 to break the back of your relapse quickly.

That would be preffered, actually. Luvox ends up occupying 80% of the neurotransmission site even when starting with small doses. You can move up slowly or more quickly as you like.

quarter pill increases will do just fine.
