I can't bring myself to read the thread above yet. I'll get there. I'm going back to 300 mg Seroquel. I was getting unwell. Found out today that Costco now has the generic. 30 pills, $36.00. That's good because finding a legit Canadian pharmacy is so bizarre. I'm pretty good at snooping around and finding info but I threw my arms up and said this project could take weeks.
I got this report in my email today.
http://www.nimh.nih.gov/science-news/2012/gene-variants-implicated-in-extreme-weight-gain-associated-with-antipsychotics.shtml?utm_source=govdelivery&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=govdeliveryI would read the thread but I was on the phone with 3 friends today with mental illness. I'm the veteran. 4 hours, I'm exhausted. One guys new doc prescribed Seroquel and told him he wouldn't gain weight. May be true, may not. And 100 mg Zoloft...he's bipolar. Can't that trigger mania? I told my friend I can't interfere with his treatment, the doc is smarter than I am. At least I hope he is.

Good for you that seroquel is now generic. So you were decompensating? Study says may with gene varient gain weight. I don't know about the zoloft. I guess depends on type of bipolar. As for the above thread now sure which one but a pretty good idea. Glad to see you back but not glad to hear you are not that well. Think light/darkness as getting darker earlier plays a role? If he is on a mood stabilizer, it should prevent him from becoming manic.
Seroquel can cause weight gain, absolutely.
