So far on 50mg. I take it at night, but I still have to take melatonin. I'm tired when I wake up in the morning, yet I automatically wake up before 6:00!
I've switched to decaf and feel good after a half hour of sitting and waking up.
Still binge eating! Yesterday I took 5mg of Adderall instead of coffee. I took my Klonopin in the afternoon and felt pretty good.
Will Lamictal eventually give me more stability at a higher dose? So far I feel good, no depression and sleep good. I probably wouldn't need the Adderall except for the fact that it helps keep the binge eating in check.
It just seems that Lamictal makes me feel more awake. Is this normal or just a symptom of not yet being on a stable dose? I dropped the lithium. Maybe I should have stayed on low dose lithium until I got to a higher dose of Lamictal.

Sheila please stick with one prescribed med change at a time. That's the only way you will know what's doing what. If you feel good stick with this. Phillipa

Hi Sheila.
It is VERY common for someone who is just starting Lamictal to feel good for a few days at 50 mg/day and perhaps upon an increase to 100 mg/day. If you should lose the antidepressant effect, you cannot abandon the drug so fast. It is likely that you will "recapture" the antidepressant response at the full therapeutic dosages. 200 mg/day is the minimum I need to feel better. If I go higher, I experience problems with memory and cognition. This doesn't happen to everyone, though.

Thanks! Yes, Lamictal is working this time so I am sticking with it. I can't believe that it has an antidepressant effect - that's a bonus for me.
I see my doc again in 2 1/2 weeks for a dose increase. He said after about a week on 50mg I should see some of the hyper feelings calming. He said with my sensitivity, I may be able to get away with 100mg. We'll see.
I did drink decaf coffee this morning and it wasn't so bad :)
