wierd effects of olanzpine above 20mg

Posted by rjlockhart04-08 on July 27, 2012, at 22:15:47

last night knowning me I decided to take 2 20mg, i don't want to hear any repremand against me, there are tons of people that do this and get moral backups and tell them its ok. Anyways...put it under my tongue...waited at least 40min for it to disolve, tasted awful...but it started to take effect and it feels like that feeling when drink high potency alcohol after a couple shots...like kinda like the "freeze" effect, but there is no euphoria at all with Zyprexa...but it does bring relief to agitated states and is calming...but still the whole day I didnt feel much emotion at all...just kinda just "zoned" but it was relieving because I have alot of self loathing thoughts and hate the way I live and it did bring relief to that, still there's no euphoria...just nueroleptic relief. 40mg can be vary sedating...but in my caae the only reaction ive had is less motivated thoghts to hate my life. I have to say this medication is good off label use for depression with an antidepressant. But I have to document this...the withdrawl I had the next day when it was leaving my system after about 20hours was not pleasant...it does have withdrawl effects because your thoughts will increase and the speed of them will increase when it leaves your system....also this quick feeling like your coming back to life too....its because the release of dopamine and serotonin increase because there's nothing blockading their release recpetors that olanzpine does. I'm getting off it soon and moving to lamictal but its good for people who going through a bad crisis because it calms agaitated thoughts.

I'll give you a caution rather than a reprimand. It is very easy to lose respect for drugs. This has happened with me from time to time. I am less concerned with the morality of your taking drugs as I am that you might become complacent and not ascertain the risks of taking the drugs in the manners that you describe. I hope my concerns are unfounded.

Thanks for reporting your experiences. Perhaps the "wierd" effects would dissipate with continued use.

I saw one report of a person being administered Zyprexa 60 mg/day. It produced a greater therapeutic effect for him than did 20 mg/day. I am guessing that you have seen this already.

yea scott....believe me my moral ethics for taking meds is to avoid the state where it could cause death, I research alot of meds and have done for the past years...still i have low opinion of what I read...i should be reading like financial stocktrading and making money....have my own place. Never will I make high expectations of myself after this complete blowout of failure.

Anyways, yes I have taken it at 60mg a while back...it just procudes signifcant relief to negative thoughts....not suppression but there its more ease to think about because of the mental sedation. It's not like alcohol...or benzos but its close somewhat zyprexa can relieve anxiety well, but it just depneds on the person.

Thanks for the response...
