>I have had major depression for 45 years. I started meds 25 yrs ago. There is always a solution. It requires trying different combinations usually. There will be something for you. Be sure to tell your dr. Everything you are feeling. If you don't think he cares, find someone else.

but theres is something called post psychotic depression. Once the psychosis wears off and gets better, people often experience depressive symptoms. but they also get better after some time.
hang in there.

I don't experience the psychosis side of things, but depression and cognitive symptoms really suck (understatement of history, no?). Your despair is evident in your writing. I really feel for you.
There's a poster on the Alternative board, Lao Tzu, who has benefited greatly from using supplements (in conjunction with medication) for positive/negative symptoms. Perhaps you could pop over there for some suggestions? Do consult your doctor before adding anything, though, just in case some of the supplements can't be mixed with your meds.
I have read studies about cognitive remediation therapy being helpful for people with mental illness who struggle with cognitive symptoms. It's a form of occupation therapy. Perhaps you could ask your doctor for a referral?
Here's some further information if you are up to reading it:

http://m.bjp.rcpsych.org/content/181/2/144.shortYou could take the study summaries to your doctor if it's something you'd like to do.
I hope these couple of ideas are of some use. Hang in there.
This is the end of the thread.
