my plan i thought up

Posted by poser938 on July 20, 2012, at 19:38:52

so right now im having a severely inhibited response to pleasurable things. lack of energy and motivation to the extreme. the main thing that caused this was being on Mirapex for about a month at the end of 2009, and now ive been stuck like this. after the mirapex i tried tianeptine and while it was in my system i felt quite a bit better. but once the med wore off my condition was even worse. since then i have tried many different meds and also rTMS. i have gotten zero help from them.

the problem i believe is my dopamine autoreceptors being stimulated for too long leading to my brains natural dopamine production to be turned off, or at least drastically reduced. now my idea is to take a sufficiently strong antipsychotic to block off my autoreceptors and then take Adderall along with it. now i dont know how well this would work since i had taken adderall along with geodon back in 2005 and it had caused the same problem mirapex had caused.
maybe it just wasnt a strong enough antipsychotic? or just too low a dose?

it is just after taking these meds that stimulated dopamine receptors for about a month, it has the opposite effect on me. when i 1st start on something like adderall, i have increased motivation, clearer thoughts and i am more creative. but after about a month my drive and energy are ruined and my thinking process is messed up. and i am stuc like that.

i think if i could block off the autoreceptors then i would be able to feel better on adderall without any long term bad effects.

I don't necessarily agree with your conclusions, but I don't discount them. At low dosages sulpiride and amisulpride block D2 presynaptic autoreceptors preferentially, presumably resulting in an increase in synthesis and release of dopamine.

Abilify would be an interesting drug to try if you are looking to "stabilize" your limbic dopamine system as per Stephen Stahl.

Abilify is a potent postsynaptic D2/D3 receptor partial agonist. However, it is also a presynaptic full agonist. The net effect, though, is dependent upon the state of the system.

"In animal models, under hyperdopaminergic conditions, binding of aripiprazole resulted in decreased activation of D2 receptors, whereas in hypodopaminergic states, administration resulted in activation of D2 receptors."

Perhaps you would respond to ketamine.

oops, i meant to say that when i took ritalin, while it was in my system i felt pretty good but then as soon as it was out of my system i felt worse.. permanently. i had tried tianeptine also and after 10 days it kicked in and i became worse. even the effect of a single dose of the tianeptine felt differently than it did before i took mirapex. before mirapex i felt a calming /pleasurebale effect from it, but after mirapex messed me up i didnt have the calming effct anymore.

since then i have tried amisulpride with no effect from it. then i tried prozac just to see what it would do, and it only numbed me even more. then risperdal, then seroquel, latuda, i tried ketamine, then saphris, and right now i'm on fanapt and lamictal.

i cannot feel a single effect from antipsychotics. and my experience with ritalin and tianeptine make me scared of any stimulation of the autoreceptors... i do believe they are what caused the problem. at least i hope so in a way.

oh annd one med that did help me was cyproheptadine until i became too tolerant to it. i believe it helped by its serotonin antagonism, this is supposed to kind of take the brakes off dopamine release.
