i've been trying to look information on this, and i have found some information that medication put in transdermal patch form does bypass the liver, and some sites saying it doesnt.

They probably mean that transdermal application avoids first-pass metabolism, because the drug directly enters the bloodstream. But the drug will still go through the liver eventually on its way through the system.
Did that help?

I'm pretty sure it does go through the liver. It would have to, to be broken down.

so, let me see if i can word this right... does that mean that the liver doesnt have to work as hard since it avoids "first-pass metabolism"? and that it can tolerate medication better? i'm curious because i may be starting high doses of cyproheptadine that i'm getting in transdermal form from a compounding pharmacy.
