I've had derealization, brain fog, emotional numbness, and cognitive dulling for the last year, which was temporarily relieved with lamictal but has returned. I've tried all the ssri's and none of them have touched it. have been on emsam 12 mg for 1 week which seems to be treating my depression but my derealization persists, so my doctor recently added 5 mg valium twice a day, which to my suprise, completely cleared my derealization and restored my emotions the first day. it's the first time i've had any clarity in years, but after reading about benzo addiction and potential permanent damage to GABA receptors i'm terrified to stay on it. I feel like I'm in a lose/lose situation, and it's almost impossible not to reach for the valium bottle. What should I do? I tried gabapentin 300 mg today and it helped somewhat, but I still feel numb. It doesn't compare to the valium.
