Anyone take soma for backpain for degenerative changes and disc changes to relax the muscles protecting injuries most likely? Even if taking low dose valium and low dose luvox and lexapro. I don't like the side effect profile and ordered by a neuro spine surgeon. Also said to take motrin? Phillipa

I don't take it, but I think its fairly benign. It breaks down into meprobamate, which may help your anxiety, unless you're looking to avoid sedative-type anxiolytics.

Yes I know but the list of side effects is incredible. I once tried a piece of the soma and then got nightmares? Confused as to whether to take or not as was thinking in the beginning age 24 mep worked well discontinued after a year or so cold turkey no side effects. Since the valium and xanax no longer work would this substitute for them and relieve anxiety? And stop the other two? Phillipa

I'm not a doc. I don't know. Since you've gotten older, maybe sedatives are less appropriate? That's all I can think to explain your situation. I mean, besides having used BZD drugs for years. Could be tolerance...
Anyway, I hope you find something that helps. I would say Ultram, but you're on SRI drugs. Did you say its hard to get opiates--even low dose--in your area? Opiates sometimes help anxiety and mood while also treating pain.

Impossible unless just had surgery and then limited time. I'd think it would be the same there? And they do work on anxiety and help feel good as when did have surgery I could take one and felt good right away. I'm not an abuser. Sometimes docs stink!!! Phillipa
