I'm more agitated / anxious. My sleep is worse. I'm more irritable. My mood is shifty. I don't feel any sense of control.

Sorry to hear that.
That's interesting. I think most people find fluvoxamine to be sedating. Perhaps there is a clue in there somewhere.

Scott on 250mg of luvox and 4-5mg of ativan had all kinds of energy. It pooped out second time round after two week. First time was taken off by that pdoc that literally made me trial celexa. What do you feel the clue is with linkage. And why can I not come off such a low dose now 50mg is a joke. Thanks Phillipa

How long have you been on it?

This is a tragic outcome, albeit all too common.

I haven't given it too much thought, actually. I consider Linkadge to be far more qualified than I am to figure it out.
Perhaps using an anticonvulsant like Depakote, Topamax, or Trileptal would help you discontinue Luvox. This strategy does work for treating BZD and alcohol dependence. I would try Trileptal first. It is a pretty "clean" drug with respect to physical and mental side effects.

I took trileptal 150mg at one time as augmenter to an ad. I was to go to 300mg but too expensive. At the time no blood tests were needed. Is it generic yet? Thanks Phillipa

Fluvoxamine can activate you for certain, but this is more usual for the start-up phase and shortly thereafter than for the longer term. Still, there are people who continue to sleep badly on it, which seems like one aspect of activation.
Fluvoxamine inhibits CYP 1A2 enzymes very strongly. This enzyme group metabolizes melatonin, the sleep hormone. So fluvoxamine slows down the break-down of melatonin, thereby increasing melatonin levels tremendously. Walking around with a lot of melatonin in the daytime can give one a very jetlagged feeling. The irritability could be caused by this chemical jetlag. It normally gets better or disappears with longer term use. Sitting in front of a bright monitor helps breaking down melatonin, really, as would light therapy.

Luvox is useless.
