I won't fill a prescription for more than $30

Posted by linkadge on April 2, 2012, at 20:46:32

Thats my policy. A month of a generic antidepressant should not cost more. I can afford more, but I am not willing to pay more than $30 a month.

$50? Forget it. I'll suffer and save thanks.

Why would I pay $50 to fill a prescription for generic paxil in Canada, when I can buy an OTC bottle of chlorpheniramine for $5 which will do the same thing?

Wow Link... that is a lot. I`m not familiar with how prescriptions are handled in Canada, but here in the US, those who have insurance typically pay $5 - $10/mo for generics, and $10 - $20 for a 90 day supply. Of course, that changes for brand name drugs, but I can`t imagine paying $50 for a generic!

Link...I feel your frustration. But I honestly think your illness might be best served by some unconventional meds and doses. I was thinking along the lines of combining a couple (2?3?) of mood stabalizers. Both anxiety and depression can benefit from the combo of these meds. There are a LOT of little tinkering's of meds you could experiment with. I spent my first almost 10 years on psyche meds using 'conventional' treatments like the a.d./benzo combo...even just adding 1 mood stabalizer....but I didn't start to feel better until we tried combos of some intersting meds. I've been on up to 5 psych meds at a time.
Also..regarding med cost coverage...don't you qualify for Trillium here in Ontario?

Best..
Jay
