any remedy other than exercise and diet (obvious) to keep the weight at bay and also to take the desire to eat and eat away? I'm gaining a pound a week and it's going straight to my belly.
Anything?
Thanks,
Laney

Don't they say it's the change in body chemistry from the meds that causes the weight gain. Only one I've heard of is metformin but that is a type 2 diabetes med. Rock and a hard spot. Phillipa

phentermine (Rx), Bontril (Rx), metformin, high dose alpha lipoic acid, high dose green tea extract+caffeine.
All I can think of. There's topamax, but it tends to make people stupid.

People have reported improvement from metformin. Others report benefit from the addition of Wellbutrin.
I imagine you've tried all the usual approaches: drinking water before eating, drinking water and chewing sugar free gum between eating, exercise, portion control. Weight gain meds suck!!!
Are there any psych meds you haven't tried which might help your condition? Even ones which also have a high incidence of weight/appetite increases?
Sometimes drugs have a paradoxical effect. Just because one drug renown for weight gain makes you gain weight, it doesn't necessarily mean another will. For example, Zyprexa and Mirtazepine make me gain weight, but Nortriptyline (also known for weight gain) has no effect on my weight at all.

Topomax does the trick but there is a reason they call it Stupimax. It makes you dumb. I didn't want to eat at all. I have had a lot of success with weight watchers. I'm down 76 pounds. Good luck!

Most if not all stimulants are appetite suppressants. Wellbutrin, caffine. Those are mine.

Don't know if your doc would be on board with this, but Wellbutrin completely obliterates appetite. I lost six or seven pounds in a little over a week.
