I am taking 600mg Trileptal and sometimes I crave salty foods like chips. Is this normal?
Also am trying out Restoril for sleep. What is the usual dose for sleep? 30mg?

Hi Sheila,
My pdoc has me scripted for 15-45 mg. Depends on the night. Is onset the worst for you, or do you have sleep maintenance issues as well?
Often 15 mg is enough to send me to sleep when I need to use it. Depends how wound up I am. I'm not hesitant to use it, but try to go low and not build tolerance. Because my sleep is so, how shall I say it, f*ck*d up to begin with, I don't want to burn out it's efficacy.
Good luck with the new regime :)

I don't know. However, Trileptal can cause the body to lose sodium. The condition is called hyponatremia. You might want to be tested for blood electrolytes. Ask your doctor about this.

Hi Beckett - the onset of sleep is what is hard for me and then staying asleep. I seem to have a problem relaxing enough to feel sleepy. In the past I have tried 2mg of Klonopin but that didn't work. Even Ambian doesn't work too well. At some point (usually after about an hour) Ambien will kick in, but it's hard.
I might try 30mg of restoril and see if that relaxes me enough to fall asleep. Maybe if I take it an hour before I want to go to bed.
This is the end of the thread.
