Doc has me on 300mg Trileptal 2x a day and Restoril for sleep. She also has me on 300mg lithium. She wanted me to take lithium at night but it kept me up all night peeing so I switched it to morning. Problem is the 300mg of lithium is making me hyper, a little angry and irritable. It does seem to get rid of the depression, but it seems aggravating to my mood.
Also, I'm not crazy about the bloating and the munchies.
The Trileptal is great. But I don't know if that is enough for the depression.
I'm extra sensitive to meds. Should I cut down to 150mg of lithium?
Why would it be making me hyper and irritable?

Shouldn't make you hyper. Just googled and this is what I found. Phillipa

Lithicarb comes in 250mg if that helps.
I take a "sprinkle" of Lithium -- 125mg! I'm super sensitive. It doesn't make me hyper or irritable though.
I'm not sure that hyper and irritable is a good combination with depression. Maybe Lith is just not the right drug for you?

I'm thinking of cutting back to 150mg in the morning. I think I absorb too much with 300mg at one tine. I notice that when I take 300mg at one tine I get a burst of energy and then by afternoon its gone. My doc prefers I take all at one time, but I'm thinking of either just taking 150mg in the morning or dividing my dose to 150mg am and pm.
I'm super sensitive as well.
Does 125mg help you with your depression? I'm hoping that maybe 150mg will help with mine. We'll see.
