caffeine usage and its alternatives

Posted by rjlockhart04-08 on January 26, 2012, at 23:16:11

lately i've replaced my medications with caffeine. I have about 200mg of caffeine at time and I have found that it sharpens the mood, of course its not anything direct on dopamine but it does provide some kind of focus that I need to function. Does anyone know better alternatives to caffeine? it does cause jittery and anxiety at doses above 400-600mg, but it depends on how you handle it. Some people can consume much caffeine and it helps them function.

I never tell people how depression has caused my life to disappear and destroyed. I'm very in need of information.

RJ,

I found guarana to be a smoother source of caffeine than coffee, energy drinks, or caffeinated soda. Basically, I experienced less in the way of jitters and agitation on guarana relative to other forms of caffeine. Your mileage may vary, though.

Does that mean you are not taking any of your meds now? Only caffine? How long off meds?

There was some kind of warning issued on high energy drinks with high caffeine a while ago. Have a google and see what turns up. Phillipa

Take a look at Rhodiola Rosea. It's a tricky one because it behaves differently depending on the size of the dose. On one hand that is good because it can be custom tailored to you, but on the other hand requires some patient experimentation.

Curious you respond well to a substance which has shown positive effects on OCD in studies. Caffeine antagonizes glutamate which seems to help those with OCD.
