Oxcarbazepin and weight gain?

Posted by Ben on December 28, 2011, at 8:08:53

Whats your experience and how it differs from Valproate and Carbamazepin concerning this issue? I switched from Valproate 600 mg to 750. mg Oxcarbazepin because I had tremor of the Lithium Valproate combo.

I found oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) to be weight-neutral. I didn't gain any weight at all while taking it.

Lithium + valproate is well-known to produce tremor.

I took it once also but only 150mg no side effects no nothing no weight gain. Stopped when was supposed to go to 300mg as so expensive. Was being used to augment an ad is all. Wonder if they still do this? Phillipa

I was looking for Trileptal to help improve my depression. It had no beneficial effect. You might want to screen for hyponatremia at some point while taking Trileptal.
