Hey Guys -
I don't believe this could be a medication side effect but I'm going to ask. I've been on Anafranil awhile and the ONLY side effect I've had has been loss of libido.
The past week I've been getting lightheaded and dizzy feeling. Without medicine, sometimes I get this so I'm wondering what it could be. I think most side effects from meds come when you are adjusting but can this be a late side effect or is it just a passing thing that I shouldn't worry about.
I'm OCD so every change seems to get amplified.

I had anorgasmia on Anafranil Not being able to c*m is so frustrating...I found Mirtazapine helped with this problem (Mirtazapine can cause premature ejaculation, lol).
TCAs (the class of medicine Anafranil is) can cause some hypotension, even late in the game, which may be making you feel dizzy. There's nothing to worry about, but you can bring it up with your doctor and see how he feels.

Dizziness is often a symptom of depressive and anxiety disorders. (OCD is sometimes considered to be an anxiety disorder). I would not be surprised if you experienced this before you started taking Anafranil. However, a drug that blocks NE alpha-1 receptors (Anafranil) can make this dizziness worse.

Hey Guys -
Thanks for your comments. Well, in short, I had a big problem with dizziness and lightheadedness from 2007-2008 although it didn't affect me too much in my daily life, I did feel it constantly. I know full and well dizziness and lightheadedness are a common SE of anxiety/OCD.
I have been on Anafranil for 1.5 months with no issues with dizziness/lightheadedness and it just came about the last week. Nothing has changed except the holidays so I hate to blame an anxiety reaction on a medication reaction and vice versa. The Anafranil is a great help in calming me down and reducing the obsessive thoughts.
Sometimes it's tough to distinguish medication reactions to anxiety/OCD reactions.
**I had textbook GAD for many years before it became OCD. The OCD is worse I would say so Anafranil is one of the better meds for this.

Hy Phillippa -
I have no inner ear problems, only dizziness/lightheadedness from anxiety in the past. There is no reason that I should be thinking this could be any different.
I'll give it until after the holidays and see what happens!
