Hello, I have been on Prozac 20 mg for about a year for low grade anxiety and irribility. It has really worked well for me in subtle ways. Allowing me to feel a general sense of well being and most side effects went away in time.
Lately though, it is not helping me during the week before my period. I have disturbed sleep, irritability and anxiousness. Could raising my dose during just this week offer any help? Anyone have experience with raising doses for just part of the month?
Thank you for your input.

I have not had experience in raising the dose the week before your period but it is a pretty common thing to do. I was on prozac for many years and my ob/gyn mentioned that this was helpful for pms.

You should, of course, ask your prescriber. That said, they used to have this really girly looking pill--SaraFem, I think--that was just Prozac for that not-so-fresh feeling. I wouldn't know anything about all that, but if they made a Prozac just for that, I can see how raising the dose could be helpful. Do keep in mind that Prozac has a LONG half life, so your blood levels might stay elevated for a hot minute.
