Im doin a Marplan trial my friends!

Posted by Lamdage22 on December 17, 2011, at 9:46:42

Hello,

i foolishly went down with the nardil from 90mg to 45 yesterday. Today i will take 45mg again.. then on Sunday: nothing on Monday nothing

Tuesday: Test dose of Marplan holding Nifedipine ready.
Isnt that a cool pDoc? Pretty agressive manner. (no this is not my alter ego, i am really seeing a pdoc again lol)

I have to add i am experienced with hypertensive crises, i know how it feels when its coming on and i know approx how much nifedipine is necessary.

Well i hope to get rid of some weight gain and i hope marplan will be a tad more activating than nardil. Parnate is like 8 shots of espresso for me so i dont need that.
My doc is ready to go past the recommended 60mg, provided i tolerate it well.

Keep you updated!

A greeting from Southern California :)

You sound very good. So you feel you need to change meds? Is you doc a really reputable one? I'm wishing you the best of luck. And let us know how it's going. Phillipa

Hey thanks.. im not doing too bad. But thats not only through meds and even then not only through nardil.. Its nice to hear that though, i just got that earlier this week. Maybe im doing better than i think right now.
I take ALOT of supplements and also some Wellbutrin.
Something like this:

200mg SamE
90mg Nardil
150mg bupropion
1000mg phenylalanine
50mg 5htp
6mg Methylfolate
20mg Enada NADH
Light therapy
(some other supps with only indirect mood effect)

LOL! I would say overall this is moderately working.

Well hes a cool guy because he is very humble for a pdoc. As alternatives he suggested topamax and yeah what i read about it i honestly have to say i dont even want to try it.

The weight gain is a bummer and it kinda nags on my motivation and success with exercising. I think its important to feel comfortable in ones body.

Depression wise, ive come a long way, but not all the way out yet. Hope to be able to engange in 2 times per week therapy soon, but thats another story.

Well marplan is expensive and im a bit nervous about it.. I DEFINITELY need to do something about the carb cravings though. Maybe i should have suggested adderall in a subtle dosage? Im nervous!! did i say that yet?

What do you think about the switch to marplan?

Thanks,

Lamdage

Ps.: Metformin made me feel blah.

I was suppose to do a marplan trail 2 years ago after I had a very bad parnate experience <hypertensive crisis without food interraction>. Since its not available in the Canada, my PDoc had to ask health Canada to have the right to import it but it was too expensive around 200$ for 30 pills, the regular dose is 30mg a day thats mean 10 days with 3o pills and around 600$ for a month,so I say no... Marplan is suppose to be more well tolerated with less spontanous hypertensive crisis or orthostatic hypotension. The Nardil at a low 45mg day was horrible for me with the orthostatic hypotension that didnt wanted to stop even after 3 months on it, too bad cause the Nardil was good for my anxiety and each time I was on It <2 times> I was able to cut by half my Clonazepam dose from 4mg to 2 mg and sometimes less I always wonder why Im having so much cardiovascular effects from the Maoi's and the TCA's??? The second generation TCA's are the worse for me and 10mg of Nortriptyline is enough to make my heart race faster than the speed of light> I wonder if I can have a mitral valve prolapse problem? Even if I had a lot of normal heart tests done recently, maybe the Cardiologist dont see it... anyway if you try the Marplan just letme know how it is ok, im curious about its effect on anxiety disorders and also about is effect on the blood pressure, heart rate or side effects in general. Sometimes I wonder if I should ask to return on a low dose of Nardil since I find its the easier AD to take with no increase anxiety at first like the SSRI's...but again with ma fast heart and low blood pressure that I have since some months I guess it will be too dangerous to lower even more my blood prressure

Vincent seriously mitral valve prolapse first can be heard with the stetescope and seen on Ultrasound. Fairly easy to see. I don't feel that is what is wrong. Phillipa
