Is Parnate actually effective for ADHD?

Posted by g_g_g_unit on December 10, 2011, at 7:03:58

I've seen mixed reports on this, particularly in the archives. It's also hard to find reports from people with bona fide ADHD. Many people say it just makes them spacey. Is it dose dependent? For what it's worth, I don't think I'd be able to have more than 60mg prescribed. Official Australian prescribing guidelines actually suggest 20mg!

I think I remember someone once posting the equivalent amphetamine ratio between Parnate and Adderall? I think it was something like 10mg of Parnate = 1mg of Adderall, if that sounds correct?

Anyway, the reason I ask is because all other AD's, mood stabilizers etc. seem to take an intolerable toll on my reading comprehension. For what it's worth, I suffer from primarily inattentive ADHD.

So you want a stimulating med? Don't you also have OCD which is an anxiety disorder? If so one makes one anxious and one the opposite in a way so does that mean that the opposite profile of a med is what helps OCD? Very confusing. How does one have both together? Phillipa

I'd like to find a way to treat my attention problems without exacerbating my anxiety too much. Since Parnate is effective for anxiety and has reportedly improved some people's attention, I thought it might fight the bill. What's more, stimulants - particularly dexamphetamine - have proven effective in treating OCD; I found as much to be true.
