another emsam q

Posted by Christia on November 29, 2011, at 20:09:09

Weird, I thought I posted this already.

Thanks for the info!

I started a half patch today and got a big headache and quite dizzy. I took it off when I got home from work. I seem to metabolize slowly, so I might start with a quarter, which seems ridiculous.

Any tips from those who tolerate meds poorly? Might I start with a quarter and take it off at night for example, or will it never work that way?

Thanks in advance!

Quite a few of posters have started this way. So it should work. Phillipa

adjusting how much time you keep the patch on is another way to adjust the dose. i was told taking the 6mg patch off at night (8 hours) would be the equivalent of a 4.5mg dose per 24 hours.

good luck!

Thanks! I am so sensitive to meds, so I am on a quarter patch a day. Will ramp up to half a day, then do what you mention. Maybe I'll even get to 6 mgs!

I never could get more than 20 mgs of parnate in me, but it was very effective at that dose (until it wasn't anymore).

So far, emsam (at a quarter patch) seems to have only one SE--a little agitation. I'll take it versus the sedative effects of cymbalta and effexor!

trying to find a way to ameliorate weird EMSAM side effects, i tried half a patch one day, and found the side effects were actually worse, so i am not convinced cutting the path lowers the dose (felt like it released more med more quickly). but it was just one day and i am wonky, so may have been a one off experience. once i recover from the side effects problems i hope to try again by just keeping the 6mg patch on for a shorter time each day.
