The Ambien seemed to be the best med for helping me wake up feeling refreshed and not angry, BUT, I was sleep eating and not remembering things I texted, or did at night....Lunesta makes me feel irritable and drowsy in the AM.....I have Klonopin....which actually doesnt really make me drowsy but I could try tonight...anyone?

Try taking 0.5mg - 1mg of klonopin, along with 50mg of diphenhydramine (Benadryl, Sominex)
This is an antihistamine that aids sleep, and will help the klonopin to work more effectively

Hi FM,
You've probably made your choice by now.
Have you tried tenazepam for sleep? It is sedating with faster onset than klonipin. I use gabapentin as well. Maybe your doc will script you.
Ambien can do that to me as well if used regularly. I agree with your on lunesta. There is sonata that is great for sleep initiation, but I would back it with a longer acting agent. If used too frequently, it has the same limitations of ambien.
This is off-topic, but I was wondering if you're moving in with your mom. I would if my MIL wasn't so nuts. It's lonely raising a kid on one's own. Besides, kids seem to love grandparents. I wish you the best.

> This is an antihistamine that aids sleep, and will help the klonopin to work more effectivelyDo you think something synergistic is going on between diphenhydramine and Klonopin? Both drugs affect serotonergic neurotransmission, albeit in different ways.
Benadryl sedates me, but I experience a muddy hangover the next day.

Hello, I am helped by adding 1/4-1/2 pill of Remeron 15mg to my klonopin. Can only do this once in a while or it doesnt work. However, now i will be tapering k and dont know what to expect as far as sleep is concerned. My pdoc suggested seroquel. But i was too anxious to take the pill, she said to try a crumb of it,still too anxious,so never tried. She did say one patient told her seroquel felt like having his brain in a warm relaxing bath

Going back to the Ambien and maybe the cr if needed - anyone have experience with Ambien cr? Benadryl makes me irritable - used to hype me up as a kid - now just makes me feel edgy ....

Hi FB
Moving in with my mom may be a long term plan....currently living thousands of miles away. It is an option however :). Hoping that health finds me before I need to resort to that though. My babblemail is finally on if you want to chat :)

Seems the later I stay up the less of anything I need as used to take higher but not high benzo doses. Not not as much. Also benydryl made me tired but wierd and not sleepy just drugged. Phillipa

Scott,
I generaly think the actions are just addative, the benadryl gives you some sedation, the benzo gives you some sedation...... even 25mg has been shown to increase the sleep inducing effect of a benzo, and this low dose shouldnt cause hangover.
Benadryl (like any drug) wont suit everyone, but for those who it does suit, it can be ane asy and cheap way of boosting the sleep inducing effect of their benzo on nights when they need it.
Its actualy quite concerning that such a sedating drug is widely used during the day as an antihistamine, whn people are working, driving etc. I'd never use Benadryl as an antihistamine, so many options avaliable that dont leave you a zombie

This is superior to diphenhydramine for this purpose.
This is the end of the thread.
