Had a pretty good day yesterday til posting on ebay and out came a round tonsil ball the icky ones and it seems like it had acted as a plug. As all kinds of clear mucus started coming into mouth down back of throat causing coughing, and spitting out the excess mucus. And since then feel not good. Took two motrin. But I know the balls are harmless but why did it cause this reaction. Phillipa

I'm not sure I know what you mean by these tonsil balls. Anyway, I hope you get to feeling better and all the gunk goes away.

If your tonsils have pus on them and are swolen, you might need a course of penicillin.

No not swollen just have the crepts in them. And the Tonsil stones are bacteria, lymph and other. So I'm guessing this is the bodies way of cleansing itself? Maybe this is why tonsils not routinely taken out. My age bracket most had tonsils removed. Phillipa

its mucus that get's accumulated with bacteria in the tonsils. I have those too!! and thought people thought I was crazy because no one knew what they where. That's what it is.
