I woke up with that.... good morning! feeling. I was right I guess. The worst of the nicotine withdrawal masked my recent improvement since adding AndroGel. Now, I see the doc tomorrow. Two issues: one, my insurance sent me a letter indicating they won't pay for AndroGel again but they will pay for Testim. It's the same thing, except he has me on 2.5 grams of 1% gel per day and the minimum dose for Testim is five grams of 1% per day. Second: whether I use ambien or restoril, I wake up between 2 and 3 and must take another. Ambien CR isn't covered by my insurance but Dalmane is. What do you guys think? I might need to switch Medicare part D plans, I like Ambien CR. Nardil 90 mg, AndroGel 1% 2.5 gm, Xanax up to 1mg bid, Restoril 30mg usually once at bedtime and once between 2 to 3 am. -z

medicare part d is prohibited by law from covering benzos, but I have both Medicare and Medicaid, Medicaid in California (Medi-Cal) will automatically cover most benzos. My Medicare Part D plan covers Z drugs but not Ambien CR only regular Ambien. So, until I switch plans it's looking like I'll be asking for Dalmane.

If you took say flurazepam 30mg at bedtime, its likely you wouldnt need any Xanax during the day (flurazepam has a half life of around 100 hours, so it would excert a calming effect throughout all of the following day after you took it)
Note that it takes a couple of nights use to get the maximum benifit from flurazepam, as it needs to build up in your system.
You could try "boosting" your temazepam with 50mg diphenhydramine (Benadryl etc) at bedtime.

The Androgel should be used on account of having low testosterone, done with a full testosterone level check. 2.5 gm of Androgel is used to start with, and should be adjusted based on regular checks of your testosterone levels. Going on too high a dose of Androgel can cause a lot of problems, as I experienced last year with a bout of very bad mania that made me do some really stupid things, such as being overly aggressive on a number of counts. So, be very careful, and point out to your doctor any further mood changes.
Best,
Jay

Can't you just split the Testim in half?
