Posted by rjlockhart04-08 on September 1, 2011, at 15:40:53

Every drug I take some don't work at all. Like a sugar pill. It has no effect on the brain. Tylenol PM, Strattera, Zyprexa, Prozac, and NOW Wellbutrin.

What causing this?? alot of theroies may not explain it. I'm so discusted with my body it never works correctly.

What effect are you looking for? Are you depressed? Anxious? Or just trying to find a substitute for stimulants?

can you just stop accusing me of being a drug seeking person. I already know I am an addict. I am not trying to fight with you but most of your posts .... are like insults. Listen your intentions may be totally diffrent but please get off my case about this.

Yes I have abused stimulants and other drugs to go along with it and look where it got me. I need to go to new doctors instead of complaining about the one I have. Yes, I know i really elobrate much of how I dislike her.

I am depressed but im looking for something to replace the stimulant and no I know wellbutrin is not going to do what I want.

I'm just saying it feels like it is not absorbing into my system. Same thing with strattera. It may do this with all drugs now. I don't know what is causing this blockage of the medications. It's very frustrating.

Thank you, i look forward to hear from you.

Matt

Matt, what I would like is for you to forget about the whole drug seeking addiction avoidance thing and just realise that you need to look after your health.

In particular by not taking drugs that are not helping you, if that is the case.

Is it true that Prozac and Zyperxa are not helping you?
If that is so, why not stop them over time?

I see you as being trapped in the pursuit of pleasure, both from the amphetamines and also from the guilt arising.

There are some clues in there.

Is your metabolism and liver chewing up these things ultra rapidly? Could be. Doing a trial test with ultra high dosing would be one way to find out.

Are they being absorbed in the intestine? Maybe not. There are several reasons why that could be so. Ultra high dosing might be a way to be sure some is getting through.

Are they hitting the right chemistries for you? Maybe not. For sake of example, let's assume your liver is normal and your blood test shows the drug is indeed being absorbed into your system. Straterra is really strong on norepinephrine, so if you are absorbing that med and it isn't doing anything, you can pretty much rule out norepinephrine as a factor.

What if your symptoms have nothing at all to do with serotonin, norepinephrine, or dopamine? Those aren't the only things associated with depression, ya know? If your symptoms are not caused by some malfunction in those circuits, then psych meds are not going to do anything for you. Your magic cure in that case would be something else probably non-psychiatric. I mean, just for perspective sake for anyone who is aware, serious long standing resistant depressions have been improved or cured with substances such as antibiotics, antifungals, antiparasites, and anti-heavymetals. Not to mention simple to diagnose things such as gluten intolerance. Someone with gluten intolerance, who doesn't know they are gluten intolerant, can have a bizarre mix of symptoms including psychiatric where the problem is actually originating in the intestines not the brain. So trying to treat the brain in that case will obviously not work. While on the topic, what gluten does in intolerant individuals is damage and destroy the intestinal lining....thus a possible explanation for not absorbing meds.

I don't know enough about your case and I'm not a trained doctor. But I do know enough to say there are other things that need to be addressed and there are useful clues in your med failures.
