Parnate and low blood pressure

Posted by Ben on August 27, 2011, at 1:34:45

My blood pressure is under Parnate therapy very low. I have between 100/70 and 90/60. Have you the same experience and what can I do? Is it the reason why I am tired through the day?

Could well be the reason for your tiredness.

The usual treatment is a drug called flucortralone (Florinef), it causes the body to retain salt and water, and causes an increase in BP, its safe to use with an MAOI..... ask your doctor if you can try it for a month

Florinef and Lithium

Can you take them without the long time side effects of glucocorticoide actions. What about Lithium coadministration when Florinef makes a Sodium retention? Sodium is needed to eliminate Lithium.

I have extensive experience with low blood pressure while on Parnate. I had a bad case of orthostatic hypotension. Whenever I would stand up after laying down or sitting for a long period, I would get very dizzy and sometimes simply collapse, although I remained conscious -- ha, reminds me of when I fell over in a movie theater lobby and my little sister was trying in vain to hold me up; she is much smaller than I am. People assumed I was just drunk and being carried out.... I try to take a lighthearted approach to it.

It's been a hard balancing act to get my blood pressure to a normal level. Right now I take Vyvanse (stimulant) so it counteracts the Parnate, but there are other meds that I took which helped with the blood pressure. I can't remember the names but I can look it up later.
