I was weak...

Posted by sheilac on August 17, 2011, at 8:01:44

Ok - after 3 days of just not sleeping, I was desperate last night. I took my 1mg klonopin and 80mg Geodon and slept great! Didn't even hear my husband's alarm go off. I feel so much better today.

I may have to take 20mg of Geodon and more klonopin during the day to stay stable.

I guess I need to talk to my doc about possibly switching over to Abilify, but doc really like me on Geodon (wants me to keep my weight stable or even lose some more weight!)

Geodon works, I just hate that I have to stay on top of dosing it! Why can't it just last longer and then my mood won't go off the rails?!

Of course, I also worry about the long term side effects of Geodon also.

I hate this whole BP thing. But, I'm not depressed and I am well rested and my attitude is much better today than it has been in days (guess that's what happens when you take your meds).

I just hate all the side effects of these meds.

I just wonder if Seroquel at night and Abilify during the day would be better than Geodon 24 hours a day?

Sheila, I don't understand. I don't think of you as weak. BP like yours is a real bear. Don't blame yourself for nothing. IMHO.

Thanks, FB - I was weak...

Thanks, after trying to wean off Geodon, my moods were bad and I just wasn't sleeping.

I still don't know if I shouldn't try to transition to Abilify. But I haven't had any weight gain from Geodon (which my doc likes) and if I just take a small dose of Geodon during the day it keeps me from getting hypomanic.

So, maybe Geodon and Klonopin are my answers.

I just worry about the long run on Geodon. Oh well.

I think you should stick with geodon. What long term effects are you worried about?

Worried about the long term effects on my heart. I am in great shape (great blood pressure, pulse, etc.) I have recently lost a little over 30lbs (took me a year). I work out a lot.

I haven't had any heart racing of anything like that.

My mother, who has never exercised a day in her life does have atrial fib, which CAN be a side effect of Geodon. But my doc says, I am not my mother and if I don't have heart problems not to worry about it.

So far, Geodon has been working. I just have to dose it 2x a day.

I think the Qtc interval problem was in the premarket version. But the problem was gone in the new version. Or very minimal. I took a very high dose of geodon for 2 years and no problem with that. Just the diabeties it gave me.
