uhmm... is it possible to run out of serotonin recepors after they have been downregulated so much by consistently raising the dose of a med and continuously downregulating them?

well the main thing i'm trying to find out is if it's possible to become tolerant to the effect of the dopamine release enhancing effects of 5ht2c antagonism. i was taking cyproheptadine for its 5ht2c antagonism and i got to kinda a high dose of it. now i was taking it for mirapex iinduced anhedonia but had to stop. i havent taken it in 8 months until trying it yesterday and im still completely tolerant to the dose i was on.
i'm thinking about starting back on the high dose i was on again though because the anhedonia really sucks.
now,, im hoping there might be someone on this site that really knows about this.
i know i will get tolerant to a certain dose of the cyproheptadine and all i have to do is raise the dose a bit but, is it possible to become completely tolerant to the effects of 5ht2c antagonism and its effect on increasing dopamine release once reaching a high dose of antagonism even if i continue to raise the dose. if you can i may wait it out a bit longer and see if the bit of tolerance i have goes away. i just dont want to become completely tolerant to it even if i raise the dose more.I HOPE ALL THIS MAKES SENSE!!! any theories are welcome. one thing i know is that 5hht2c antagonism actually downregulates the receptor instead of upregulating it, which is weird.

the conventional understanding is taht while things downregulate, they don't go away, and you still have more effect than w/o the drug. and after discontinuation, things return to previous sensitivity over a few weeks.

I have experience serotonergic 2c/2a antagonists like remeron and prozac are quick to poop out in regards to their motivating and anti-anhedonic properties. The mechanism for phenomenon isn't known.
How well did cyproheptadine work for you? I'm running out of options and starting to resign myself that anhedonia will always be part of my life.
