i've been noticing lately that i have a bit of dysphonia going on. its been pretty consistent for about three weeks to a month.
the weird thing is i didnt just start my meds. i've been on them (this combo) since april.
(i guess it doesnt seem that long now that i write it down).but i had a suspicion that it was coming from meds so i checked them out. there are a few reports of dysphonia from meds, .4% from gabapentin, .3% from perphenazine and .06% from pristiq.
these all seem really small.
but i'm also an oddity when it comes to other issues as well.Anyway.
This is not helpful for me...at all.
but i dont want to go off these meds. they are the only thing keeping me half sane right now.i guess i'm not looking for help, just wanted to b&tch about a side effect.
i thought having no SE (other than slight headaches) was too much to ask...

G'day B2.
To begin with I thought you meant dysphoria, and I thought.... those figures can't be right.
Now I know what dysphonia is. Sort of.

ya sorry. dysphonia is a fancy umbrella term for a voice disorder that is sort of harsh, or raspy, it can present different ways, and have many different causes.
i work with acoustics so i'm particularly sensitive to things like this.
so maybe its not that noticeable to others yet, but i sure do.

My husband complains that my speech sometimes seems labored since I started on parnate 2 years ago, but I'm pretty sure what he's reacting to is that parnate turns my mouth to sandpaper and I need to be constantly sipping water to talk normally.

Must admit I also read it as dysphoria thanks Sigi for pointing this out to me. Never heard this before. Phillipa

ya, it feels 'rougher' than normal. after a few sentences i notice i have more voice breaks, deeper pitch and i feel i have to work more with my breathing when talking.
not to any severe degree. but i have two little ones at home that i read to every night and i really notice it when reading books to them...i'll mention it to pdoc next time i see him.
