What doc said...

She said that she doubts the sweating from Trileptal will go away in time. She said it is a side effect that can happen in some people.

I also told her that I didn't like taking the higher dose of Lithium (hair falling out and weight gain, bloated). She wasn't crazy about me being on a low dose of Lithium, but she said I could try 300m or even 150mg along with 2mg of Klonopin. She said Lithium in low doses helps with depression.

I also told her that since I had stopped the tiny dose of Prozac a few months ago I am having some OCD symptoms. She wants me back on a small dose of Prozac to help the OCD. Taking Adderall for ADD will not do me any good if I'm OCD all the time!

So - Adderall, Prozac, Lithium and Klonopin

I didn't even realize how out of hand my OCD was until I was only taking Adderall and Lihtium! I guess I was getting too much Dopamine!

OCD is considered an anxiety disorder so guessing the amphetamine action of the add meds created more anxiety. Seriously that's a new one about the sweating with trileptal. Sorry it didn't work out. Phillipa

Yea, weird about the Trileptal. But I guess it is considered a rare side effect. It seems like I tried Triletpal and Tegretol about 5 years ago and I had the same reaction to both.

amphetamines are used as add-on drugs in OCD and depression. I don't know what the combo does on your brain--my guess would be mild stimulation and mood elevation and improved concentration, mixed with the mild apathy from the antidepressant--but I think its fairly common. Klonopin is also used in OCD. Lithium...scares me. But maybe a low dose will be good for you.

Good luck.

CE,

Why does lithium scare you?

CE - I agree with you. Lithium scares me too. I really am not crazy about taking it even in small doses.

I do well with Klonopin. I am only taking between 1.5 - 2mg a day. I am wondering if I just take 2mg at night or maybe even 2.5mg spread between day and night if that would work. If I take 2mg at night I sleep well and have a hard time getting up!

I am not manic crazy or bouncing off the ways. I just get a little irritable.

The prozac does help even out the Adderall. They both work together well.

I can't take "normal doses" of mood stabilizers - even small doses depress me.

Maybe I just need a little more Klonopin to deal with the irritability?
