When one takes tamoxifen in combination with:
1. Prozac
2. Paxil
3. Wellbutrin; the therapeutic anti-cancer effects of tamoxifen are greatly reduced. However, estrogen receptor antagonist drugs that are not metabolized by CYP450 2D6 are unaffected. Raloxifene is one such drug.

As a side note SSRI's also are not good for osteoporosis and maybe some other classes of ad's found that on the osteo board I go to. Seems no matter what meds you take it causes or could cause something else. Phillipa

Unfortunately, the drugs currently available to treat depression are not without side effects. As with many drugs used to treat other medical conditions, you must take the bad with the good. One necessarily must assess the cost versus benefit of any medical treatment.
Drugs are miracles.
Drugs suck. You gotta do what you gotta do.

True about gotta do what you gotta do.
Then again there is that estrogen link again. So, so much to understand. Biology is like trying to lasso the universe. Thank goodness for cowboys and girls.
I wish I had the brain power to read some of the articles being posted. Glad you do :-)

To further muddle up seems that some do well on tamoxifem and SSRI's lead to osteo and estrogen must be balanced and when menopause hits it effects your brain and in some thyroid also and then osteoporosis and the ball rolls on. Phillipa
