Is this worth presenting to my pdoc for a short term strategy until I work with a fibromyalgia doctor, or even while I am less than one month into emsam?
I know from experience that benzos are not equivalent. Klonopin (depressive), librium (rls), ativan (once after surgery). I have never taken Valium.
I regularly wake around 2:00 am after a ten p.m. dose of 1mg Xanax, 0.5mg xanax cr and 4mg zanaflex (plus mag, zinc, melatonin).Last night, I took that, woke at 2:00, took two 20mg!!! Sonata plus .05mg reg xanax, and had a lovely time reading and writing. Not sleeping.
This is more medication than I have agreed upon with my docs.
I understand the wait and see approach. I like being conservative, but I have to sleep.
So does the above switch sound reasonable? I see my pdoc on Tuesday.
Oh, I'll call my gp right now. This is ridiculous.

I have a call out. If she tells me to take more xanax, fine. I'm just not going to mega dose (for me, all of a sudden) on my own.
I take my patch off early evening now....

Gp says try 5-10mg tonight. I think she said 5mg. Not 0.5mg. No xanax on top.

temazapam 30mg has long half life and gives me a restful 8 hours and the next day I have much less anxiety. some people feel hung over the next day but if you take it 3-4 hours before bedtime it shouldn't be problem. It has helped me so much

FB still take l0mg of valium a relatively low dose and a third of a mg of regular xanax have cut down a lot. Was a time when took either xanax, ativan, or valium and had to also take choral hydrate 20cc. Incredible dose to sleep. Have developed the routine over the years of waking after about 4-6 hours and taking a piece of valium from the original l0 which broke off to sleep. In the beginning when 24 was so panic stricken took 400mg miltown and 5mg valium three times a day. Also drank three beers at bedtime. I must say at that time felt great. Eventually one day decided didn't need the the miltown and just stopped taking. No side effects no nothing. The pdoc was amazed when said off the miltown. Now know why as very strong med. Over the years have gone from one to the other. So yes valium is a good med but I'd wean a bit from the xanax as you are on two types. You didn't mean 20mg of xanax? Right. Love Phillipa

Torridcalm, does it get stored in the body similarly to Valium? That's restirol (sp?), correct?

Sounds like you need a longer acting drug - ask about Dalmane (flurazepam), dose would likely be about 30mg at bedtime.
You can boost the effect by taking 25mg doxylamine with it (a 25mg Unisom sleep-tab)
Take an hour or so before you want to go to sleep, and you should sleep like a baby for 8 hours.
