I'm torn. I was thinking today about starting the tapering process, and there's so much at stake. If I land in a mental hospital b/c I'm not medicated, my parents won't help me out anymore--they've made that quite clear already. Even if I don't end up in a loony bin, I could end up even more socially isolated, tormented by psychosis.
I've been praying about this, but I'm still struggling. I've been thinking a lot about this, but I'm still conflicted. What to do, what to do?
I mean, its not as if I'm on a super-high dose of Haldol or anything. Its Abilify and Celexa, 2 relatively safe medications (I mean, as psychotropics go...).
I don't want to end up hospitalized, I don't want to waste my life with untreated psychosis, but I don't like Psychiatry. I just don't.
Thoughts? Thanks for tolerating my posts on the subject, by the way--they've been coming pretty regularly now.

CE, it's okay to be on medication, isn't it? Your parents are behind up--that says alot. Some families don't always support recovery. And your formula is so beautifully simple. It really is.
Please don't turn away good fortune, or maybe even blessings because you might not like the way they come to you.
Not everyone finds medical relief. Do you ever give a prayer of thanks for finding good medicine? I mean this sincerely. You've been given meds and now you can go out and go to school and
be a full and helpful member of your society and send your love back to God through prayer and good living. In my opinion, God doesn't hold medication use against anyone. I think God is looking at a bigger picture. And write all you want, please. I write tons myself : J
Take good care of the self God gave you.

You two are probably right. Voices of reason...those are the voices I should heed always, and particularly at this point.

Trust me life is a lot better on the meds! I've been through many failed attempts to get off the meds. The same thing always happens, I isolate myself, by not leaving the house or talk to people and yes end up in the mental hospital some times. I don't eat, sleep or go anywhere. I get so paranoid and can't work. Even if I change meds from the ones that work and try some that don't work I end up acting wacky and some times lose my job. If you are on good meds that work you should just stick with them. Its better than the alternative.
This is the end of the thread.
