So Pristiq is one AD (in addition to Effexor and Cymbalta) which I've yet to try and I was just curious whether Pristiq users would mind chiming in on whether . .
a) it's particularly effective for anxiety? (in my case, OCD)
b) causes horrendous insomnia?thanks

I was on Pristiq during a particularly low point last year and I can only comment for myself. But it did not work well for my depression or anxiety. I have since seen a new doctor and mentioned having taken Pristiq. Generally my biggest problem is my anxiety, and he said that he did not generally prescribe it for people with anxiety first related issues. But again, that is one doctor and one experience, i'm sure other people might see it differently.

Hi ggg, I somehow checked the nm box....
Recently, (6 weeks?) I went from pristiq to cymbalta, so here's my own experience to date.
Some insomnia at 60 and more pronounced at 90. I am exhausted, but unable to get past the trancey sleep where I know I'm awake :(
Increased anxiety.
Increased depression, guess it is not a strong AD for me.
Decreased pain (!); however, I fall into the 25% who experience GI reactions.
(It really decreases pain!)
I don't think it will work unless I drop back to 30.
Best to you,
fb

Hey FB,
Sorry to hear things haven't been going so well on Cymbalta . . I hear it does have a tendency to produce fatigue. Are you still taking stimulants? Is pain one of your primary issues?
It sounds like it might be too stimulating for me; I don't seem to react very well to NRIs.
Be well.

ggg, pristiq was fairly transparent. I took it at bedtime :)
This is the end of the thread.
