I feel sick, is it my meds?

Posted by Deneb on December 8, 2010, at 0:44:23

I feel sick today. I increased my Celexa dose from 20 mg to 30 mg last night. I don't know if I am getting sick from a virus or if it was from the increase.

What should I do? I feel nauseous.

The other meds I take are: 60 mg Prozac, 0.75 mg Risperdal, 40 mg propranolol PRN

I don't have a thermometer. I think it is a virus. I'm getting hot flashes and I have a headache. My body aches.

I got the flu shot though, so maybe this is just a bad cold. I'm not sniffly though. Maybe it's a tummy virus. I felt nauseous last night.

It most likely is not, but it does sound a little like Serotonin Syndrome. It also sounds like hundreds of other things too so don't get too worried.

It would be a good idea ;however, to take your temperature and report back to your doctor your symptoms and signs just to make sure upping the dose was a good idea.

I didn't take my increased dose last night and I woke up feeling better. I'm still not sure of whether or not it was the increase in dose that made me sick. I'm going to increase my dose again on Sat. to see if I get sick again or not.

If I get sick, does that mean I have serotonin syndrome?

I wouldn't be able to tell for sure. It would certainly be a possibility. It would be important to take your temperature and consult with your doctor with all your symptoms if you do feel poor.

I hope it is not that, and I would think most likely it is not.

Deneb,

Please don't make any decisions about your medication based on what I have had to say. Please discuss your symptoms with your Doctor.

OK, I feel sick on and off and I felt kind of sick today too. I had not taken the increased dose last night. Well, I guess that rules out the med in causing my flu like symptoms.

I think I'm getting laryngitis, which is really bad because I talk on the phone for a living. :/

I'm going totally mute for 39.5 hours to really try to heal my voice box before I work on Monday. I'm drinking lots of warm soothing liquids too.

I'll go back on the increased dose tonight.

Sounds like a good plan. Rest, rest, avoid stress. And if you really do get laryngitis, DON'T whisper, though it may be soooo tempting. Really strains the vocal cords and does make it last longer.

Unfortunately , I speak from experience. Get better! :-)
