My sister's having a terrible reaction to lamictal--almost every side effect listed--fever, sore throat, cough, backache, rash, fever blisters--you name it it seems she's got it. She's under good care with her pdoc who has also referred her to another specialist for additional care. We thought she had the flu until the rash showed up. Its been almost a week now, even with prednisone and zyrtek and going off the lamictal. It is amazing just how sick she still is.
I'm just wondering if there are others out there who've had this kind of reaction and how long it took to clear up. The specialist is putting her on lots more prednisone and will see her again on Friday. I'm really hoping she is doing better by then.
Thanks in advance for any of your thoughts.

How awful I've not ever seen a post with that bad a reaction. Hope she is feeling better soon Wonder why the rash wasn't first to show up? Phillipa

Wow...this is a new one, huh? I tried the archives but it did feel like looking for a needle in the haystack. Before I went off lamictal, I had a few incidents of the rash but never anything like what she is going through. Every day, since Saturday, the question has been whether or not she needs to be in the hospital. I think if she's not better on Friday, the specialist may admit her so they can administer meds intraveneously. Really hoping that doesn't happen and that she is much better today even (one day into the new treatment).

Hi Ruby,
You wrote,[...a new one...].
I have posted a video here in relation to what can happen as a result of taking lamictal, but it may not come up in a search due to the format that I use here.
The situation as you describe it here could be a matter of life and death or a life-ruining condition from the rash. You see, a type of rash induced by lamictal is {stevens johnson syndrome}. You could search google for SJS.
You could also email me if you like, for I have a large body of infomation that I have not posted here due to rules made that prohibit me from posting links to material that (redacted by respondent).

Oh, I see how it works Lou. If someone write about a bad reaction to meds you will post to them. Otherwise you ignore everyone's posts to you where they are asking questions about what you have written in previous posts.
This is the end of the thread.
