Sinequan/doxepin/Silenor, blah...

Posted by SheilaC on October 27, 2010, at 16:44:38

Well, that was short lived. After 2 nights of sleeping pretty darn good with Silenor (creepy name), it has given me the crazy munchies for sweets! I haven't had sugar and chocolate in months and managed to lose 7 lbs. But after 2 days of silenor (aka sinequan/doxepin) I have hit mcdonalds and the candy aisle! I actually ate 3 candy bars today!

The Geodon has kept my carb and sugar cravings normal, but a small dose of doxepin and I'm stuffing my face.

No more. I can take my klonopin to relax and sleep or even a little melatonin. But I refuse to gain weight!

Oh the joys of a TCA.

Is the sweets/carbs munchies pretty on target with TCAs? The only other TCA I have taken was Elavil and I couldn't pee for 24 hours! It was awful!

Seriously years ago when volunteered on a psych floor before nursing school. TCA's were the meds used and people seemed to blow up like blimps. As I only did this once a week. I'd also go back or take more of the klonopin no weight gain on benzos. Phillipa

Yes, right on target. I was desipramine and I couldn't pee. I had to go to the ER eventually. I will spare you the details of that visit.

Great, they make you unable to pee and fat! That is why I stopped it! TCAs are just not for me!

Desipramine usually does not cause weight gain. That's what people say ... I am not sure how true it is.
