Trying to create a lasting state of wellbeing i have researched most of the psychoactive compounds procurable to mankind. The conclusion is rather simple- anything that effects dopamine neurotransmission has a robust effect on mood.
Serotonin is the neurotransmitter we tend to think of when it comes to depression- modern medicine leaves dopamine enhancing drugs aside because of their abuse potential. This assures that dopamine will be overlooked in most cases resulting in half of the depressed individuals not getting the help they need.
With that in mind i have selected three of the most dopaminergic groups of drugs currently available:
1.Dopamine reuptake inhibitors- Adderall
2.Monoamine oxide inhibitors- Parnate
3.Kappa receptor antagonists- SubutexIMO these are the most powerful groups of drugs that may be considered in depression treatment.
Since i have not used amphetamines or Kappa receptor antagonists i would like to hear any experience of how do they compare to MAOis regarding to their long-term dopamine enhancing effect?
'
Not being able to fight the temptation to write about my personal MAOi experience:
Having tried most of the sertoenergic antidepressants available to humanity with no help I finally came across the MAOis. For me, the MAOis came like a bright light from a distance, they came out of nowhere to save me.
After the Nardil kicked in for the very first time i knew i will never be the same again. Once it happened i couldn't belive what i was feeling, i discovered i have emotions again, the music is alive again, the colors are bright, smells are vivid, the hole world makes sens again. The Nardil was devine intervention to the depression.
The sun was shining for two years after which i got caught importing my precious new compound to the country where MAOis are not available. This was a total FAIL.5 months in the shadows, spending my days in front of laptop trying to figure out how to get my hands on some more of the drug,
i finally succeeded- new supply of my medication has arrived- this time it is Parnate instead of Nardil.
I am so excited... right now i'm preparing for the ceremony of taking my first cute little red pill of Parnate after long time of MAOi break ...god have been merciful to me by letting my cargo through customs.
Looking forward to hear any experience comparing the MAOi's, Amphetamines and Kappa receptor antagonists.
