I have been taking 225 mgs of Effexor XR. (along with 50 mgs of Seroquel, 300 mgs of Lithium, and 200 mgs of Lamitcal). I was feeling better - great, in fact.
My doctor and I decided to increase my Effexor dosage to 300 mgs. Now it might be my imagination, or my hormones, or just moodiness, but I have felt awful since going up on the dosage.
I've heard that at 300 mgs, Effexor begins to work on Dopamine. What does this mean, and could it be why I feel so bad on the increased dose? What does that say about me? That too much Dopamine is something I need to avoid or that I possibly have too little?
Thanks so much for any thoughts on this.

Yes it increases dopamine, but it also increases norepinephrine and serotonin more than at 225 mg. So you can't really blame the dopamine reuptake inhibition.
So basically, you really don't know what the problem is other than you felt better at 225mg, so tell him this and he will probably tell you to go back down.

yeah, same question on my part.
I think it's rare that a drug gives one back 100%.. probably one is rather in the upper 80s to 90s area, and has to do some adjustments to personal life etc. in order to be fully back at 100%..

Hi Phillipa - not sure if I'm responding correctly here but good question . . . I guess I just wanted to feel even better. :) I have very changeable moods and crave stability so badly and feeling good consistently that I thought maybe more was better.
This is the end of the thread.
