Hopefully the US will do the same thing. Did you know the biophosphiates also have lawsuits as they cause spontaneous fractures. So many negatives about meds lately. Phillipa

My mother did get diabetes around the same time she was taking zyprexa. The problem is that she didn't take it that long (5 months) and had other risk factors for diabetes.

What are biophosphiates for?

Years ago when I was taking Celexa, I was pretty naive. I didn't even read up on possible side effects. It affected my memory & it wasn't until years after I stopped taking it that I looked it up & found that substantial memory loss was a possible side effect. :-(

> LinkadgeI'm so sorry to hear that about your mother. How very frustrating. Since there were other risk factors, it makes me wonder if the medication was the straw that broke the camel's back. I hope she is doing okay.

No, it's okay Phillipa - I would only take natural stuff if I needed it for osteoporosis. I've heard of various ones that do work (results recorded on bone scans; "meds" stopped, results backslided; "meds" started, results improved.
If you call memory loss brain problems - Yes for sure! ! ! and it didn't reverse once I'd stopped either!

Same here taking vitamins for bone loss. I can't believe the celexa did that to you. So now it seems as if almost all mental meds are not good for you. Disheartening for sure. Love Phillipa. I think already sent newsletter lots of vitamin stuff

I was in the hospital and there was a guy about 25 years of age who actually went into a diabetic coma from Zyprexa. The diabetes wasn't detected early enough. He was on Zyprexa and so he was switching to Risperdal. Scary stuff!
