Saw my pdoc last week, talked with her about the continuing trouble I have with falling asleep and then grogginess in the morning. I'm on 100mg of trazodone; 100mg of nortriptyline, and .5 clonapin. When I get up (which often isn't until 9) it takes me a couple of hours to get out of the house.
See spoke in very strong terms about getting my sleep/wake cycle more closely aligned with the circadian rhythm....as in going to bed at 10pm. I was pretty shocked and discouraged; I usually go to bed around midnight and that feels early to me. She said she wouldn't try to make the shift suddenly but that maybe I should try taking half my meds at 10pm to make me sleepy and the other half at 11pm and try to get into bed by 11:30. she also wants me to get a sunbox to use in the mornings, for an hour, to help wake me up.
I am going to try it all, though it does seem difficult. This fall I'll be teaching 2 night courses and won't get home until 9pm...no way I could be in bed in an hour.
I'm wondering if there are others who have tried this and if it worked for them or not. It makes some sense but seems very difficult for a night owl like myself.

Ruby for years have tried to get up earlier and like you worked and didn't get home til 11. And yes it takes a couple hours to wind down. On different meds then but I still slept til l0. I've never been a morning person as much as I've always wanted to be and have tried hard. So I feel your challenge will definitely be rough. Good luck Phillipa
