Can Lexapro cause cognitive impairments?

Posted by TriedEveryMedication on August 16, 2010, at 17:06:34

I'm looking for a treatment for SA and mild depression that will not exacerbate my (treatment resistant) ADD-I.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of or has experienced cognitive or memory problems taking lexapro.

I work in a technical field and I'm pretty sensitive to things messing with my cognition and making me unable to work.

Thank you.

I imagine it's dose-dependent. There probably shouldn't be any problems taking, say, 2.5-5mg.

Any psychoactive drug can cause cognitive impairment. The risk is even there with drugs supposedly good for cognitive impairment. You just never know. Everyone's chemistry and underlying problems are so different. Me, a mere 1mg of lexapro gave severe cognitive impairment. Years ago when I had gotten it up to 5mg and then 10mg I was walking dumb. But for someone else it may make them feel sharper and better. You just have to listen to what your body is telling you.
