Since I have moved my new doc has changed my meds around. He wanted me to cut out all caffeine (no morning coffee), which I did for a while :)
He then wanted me to take: 40mg Geodon and 10mg Adderall in AM. An hour before bed: 1mg Klonopin and 50mg Seroquel. This was kicking my butt!
After trying this for 3 weeks I felt drugged and tired all the time. I started drinking more caffeine than ever and napping everyday!
I went back to having my 1 cup of coffee a day. Take 20mg of Adderall during the day (the higher dose Adderall seems to be more calming and gives me more focus than the lower dose Adderall) and 1 hour before bed I take 40mg Geodon and 1mg Klonopin. Dropped the Seroquel.
I am doing well with this routine. Geodon really works great and isn't causing any weight gain like lithium did. But it does make me tired during the day - the Adderall helps a little with the tiredness and helps me focus on things I need to get done.
Is it bad to take Geodon at night? Also - will taking Metformin help gaurd against getting diabetes like so many people get with Geodon?

No, Geodon is usually taken twice a day ie. in the morning and at night.
>Also - will taking metformin help guard against getting diabetes like so many people get with Geodon?
Metformin isn't usually prescribed unless diabetes has already developed. The most effective way to prevent the onset of diabetes is maintaining a healthy weight and a balanced diet.

If you do start metformin watch out for more fatigue. A recent study linked metformin to low B12 levels.

Medication for pre-diabetes is controversial. Much more effective is to lose weight, do some exercise and eat a healthy balanced diet - avoiding hi-carb foods. Easier said than done, I know :)

>Geodon is meant to be taken twice daily. The starting dose being 60-80mg BID. Literature suggests dosages lower than that can cause unwanted side effects especially akathasia.

I have been very sensitive to meds in the past, which is why my doc is starting me off slow and not hitting me with the "therapeutic" or "recommended" dose.
40mg is making me soooo sleepy I wonder if I can take it twice a day. If 80mg makes me even sleepier, I may sleep 20 hours a day!
