NARDIL Users Question for you

Posted by angels78 on July 11, 2010, at 0:52:39

Hey guys, I'm currently on Nardil 60 mg as of today, I am decreasing my dose with the help of my Pdoc to 45 mg. Anyways, I had a question because I had a side effect that I'm not quite sure of and I was wondering if anyone else has this side effect. Ok..

Usually, right before i'm about to FALL alseep, i get this like jump in my body, and literally makes me jump and wake up, i do understasnd that some people's leg kicks before they go to sleep because of the central nervous system, but this is like a jump and causes me to literally wake up. I was wondering if anyone experienced this on nardil.

Yes. I have experienced this a fair amount of times. Is worse and more frequent with higher doses.
Others correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe these are considered myoclonic jerks. And I believe they are primarily a side effect of excessive serotonin transmission in certain brain pathways or areas.
I have startled the hell out of a few people i was sleeping next to on a good number of occasions because of this. But yeah, it is annoying, for sure.
PS For me the jerks were not as pronounced on 45mg compared to 60.

As a matter of fact, yeah! I usually felt this jerk or whatever when I'd be at my computer (on dr-bob perhaps!) late at night and I'd be really sleepy and almost fall asleep in seated position, and then all of a sudden I would feel this surge or something. It's an uncomfortable feeling. To me it means that I need to get to bed! I still get echoes of this sensation sometimes.

Yes, myoclonic jerking.. you'll experience more the higher the dosage you're on.. eventually goes away.
