Never taken Paxil CR (but regular Paxil long time ago). Right now I have a lot of anxiety and thinking of going to Paxil CR or Lexapro. I know both can cause weight gain, and sexual dysfunction, but apparently Lex was the lesser of two evils.

would lead me to vote for lexapro. I took old-school Paxil; it was OK, the withdrawals SUCKED. I took Celexa (older drug that they used to make Lexapro; lex is like celexa only cleaner, faster-acting, and still patented, I think). Anyway, celexa did ok, typical SSRI side effects, no real agitation...most importantly: the tapering was absolutely painless.
Good luck.

>I think Paxil has a better track record for treating anxiety. It is worse with regard to weight-gain and sexual dysfunction. If you decide to go with Lexapro, be aware that it sometimes produces an increase in anxiety at about the two week mark, but this usually disappears soon thereafter.

First ad ever was paxil 10mg. My anxiety was so bad at the time the pdoc put me on lopressor 25mg three weeks prior to starting and was taking .5mg of xanax three times a day. It took me three months to work but did for two years and then weaned off in two weeks. Phillipa ps I hear lexapro is good and today a real life person and I were talking and she loves pristiq and knows four others on it. Said she takes for anxiety not depression but all love it said no side effects. This was on my bike ride.

Why do Doctors love Pristiq so much? I was feeling alot of anxiety and it didn't really go away the longer I was on it. It didn't feel like effexor.
