I have been taking medication for 10 years for panic and anxiety. First prozac, then zoloft and now Lexapro for the last 3 years at 15 mgs I also take 1/2 of a .5 clonazepam daily. My question is....has anyone had their meds stop working? All of a sudden the panic/anxiety is creeping back and almost feels like I am not on meds at all My panic usually happens when I go to sleep but I am having random bouts during the day too. Had to start taking a high dose of clonazepam in the evening. Going to my dr today to discuss the meds.

I have been taking Lexapro along with Effexor, Nefazadone, and Depakote for at least 4 years. I remember that Lexapro, added last, had an noticable, positive effect on my depression about 3 weeks after starting. However, lately I've been feeling pretty down and, typically, can't judge how much is situational vs. medication.
I think Pdrugs / Pdrug combinations sometimes just need to be mixed up a bit. It's a very individual thing.

Hello lwv!
Welcome to Psycho-Babble. I've been on SSRI's for 10 years too. I wouldn't say they've stopped working completely before, but sometimes my anxiety and depression would come back if I am not taking my meds regularly or something bad happens in my life. They always start working again after a tweek or something. I don't know if it is placebo or what.
